The festival takes its name from the open-air Teatre Grec. The venue was inaugurated during the 1929 Universal Exhibition and is located in the foothills of Montjuïc. It is the main site for this unique performance festival and the inaugural sessions are invariably organised there.

A long-lasting cultural and talent promotion event

After more than 40 years of history, the Grec Festival of Barcelona has become the leading show producer in Catalonia. Its mission has two purposes: Firstly, it supports local productions showing some of the best creations from collectives and artists of the region. Secondly, it claims to be an open window to the world by presenting some of the most interesting international talents.
